Born on 1 November 1973 at Mangalore, Karnataka, India, Aishwarya Krishnaraj Rai into a traditional south Indian family, she started modeling at a young age. Karan: How’s life been?
Preity: Life’s been good! I just wrapped up a movie Jhoom Barabar Jhoom and now it’s ready for release.Karan: Yes, it’s releasing soon and everyone’s saying it’s looking fabulous. In fact, the promos are on air and everyone’s loving them.
Preity: Well, I’ve had a great time shooting for it. It’s been a great experience. First time working with Abhishek — you never cast me with him!Karan: Well, you guys were the deprived parties in KANK and those two were having an affair behind your backs. You silly people!
Preity: No, no, no. Jokes aside, working with AB for the first time and working with Bobby after eight-nine years… Lara, I was working with for the first time, so it’s been great. I worked with Shaad in Dil Se when he was an assistant and I started off my career then and now working with him. So it’s been great!Karan: When you look back at Soldier, do you think it was just the other day or you feel a lot of time has flown?
Preity: Actually, I didn’t feel these nine years, to be honest. It’s been the best time of my life. The industry has given me everything and you know people always say, this industry is sleazy, there is a casting couch, people are like this. I think people treat you the way you want to be treated by them. I have never encountered any problem with anybody who’s being cheap or sleazy because I have never portrayed myself like that.Karan: Because you have met very classy and elegant people.
Preity: Like Karan Johar? Like KJ?Karan: Yeah, so there has been no problem on that end. I’m more of the couch myself rather than being the casting couch.
Karan: Yeh Pritam Singh ka origin bata dena mujhe.
Preity: Bobby, please don’t destroy me. Please, I beg you!
Bobby: Well, she’s like a guy… like a buddy.Karan: You two have been friends for a while and you’ve kept in touch even when you’ll didn’t work together?
Preity: Yes. Bobby and me have known each other before I became an actor.
Bobby: She would be with us. We would all go out in my dad’s van every night and she would be sitting right at the back, quietly to herself. One day, she came up to me and said ‘Okay, I’m doing criminal psychology. Can I make you my subject?’ And I said to her, look Preity, I would love to but I’m from this family and if I talk about myself and if you say my subject Bobby Deol, I can’t do it!Karan: You wanted to make Bobby your subject?
Preity: But, you know, in the beginning, I didn’t know Bobby as Dharmendra’s son.Karan: Who did you think he was?
Preity: I swear! When I first met him, he was one of the guys in the group and I had to look for someone between 23-28. I needed five subjects.

I’d love to marry Karan Johar: Ekta Kapoor
There’s more than super-success at work here. Both Karan Johar and Ekta Kapoor are 30-plus, fiery, feisty, famous and eminently single. And although both are off-camera celebrities, they get mobbed big-time in public places.
Once upon a time, both of them were overweight, bratty, spoilt kids from very filmy families who were fated to take their somewhat-shaky family fortunes to unimaginable heights.
Ekta was the over-possessive daughter of Jeetendra, the superstar of the 1970s. As a child she once chased one of his father’s heroines with a slipper because she found the leading lady misleading her precious father by batting her eyelids too hard.
Karan was so much younger than his father that he grew up thinking producer Yash Johar was actually his grandfather.
As hopeless kids Ekta and Karan would run into each other at birthday parties, both blissfully fat and grinning from year to year into impending nothingness.
Laughs Karan: “I don’t think our parents ever thought we could make much of our lives. Ekta, I believe, was seen more as the eternal couch potato than someone who’d one day be weaning millions to become couch potatoes. I think she wanted to be a journalist at one point. So did I. At one point I even strayed into acting as a child.”
Karan did the children’s serial “Indradhanush” on national television and later even played Shah Rukh’s nerdy sidekick in “Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge”.
Karan chuckles hard. “Both Ekta and I were very maladjusted and very overweight kids. Today we’ve both turned out rather well. Our parents must be proud of us. I’m as proud of her as she is of me. We bond as people who evolved almost simultaneously from wastrels to people who could make a difference.”
Whom can we marry?” both of them lament today. Ekta feels her power and fortune block all bachelors from honest courtship. Karan hasn’t found his dream girl.
“I don’t think I ever will find the right partner. If finally neither Ekta nor I find someone else, we’ll marry each other,” said Karan.
“At least my mother will be very happy. Not only because I’ll finally get married. But also because she’ll get to know the plot line of her favourite serials beforehand,” he added.
“I love Ekta! She’s an absolute darling. I truly admire her tenacity and her ability to do the work she believes in despite the snobbish opposition,” Karan said.
There is one more factor that binds the two talkative tycoons together. It’s their mutual affinity to numerologist Sunita Menon.
Laughs Karan: “Ekta and I have clawed Sunita’s hands out of her body. Both of us suffer from an incurable fear of flying. And we’ve often flown with Sunita. Her hands bear the tell-tale signs of our flying phobia.”
Ekta reciprocates all of Karan’s compliments. “I’d love to marry Karan. When is he proposing? Whenever we do meet we hug like long-lost pals. Karan is one of my closest friends from the film industry. I don’t have friends in Bollywood. I prefer to stick to my television crowd.
“I remember I had gone to see Karan’s ‘Kal Ho Naa Ho’ with an unbiased Friday-evening audience. And I saw how the audiences cried and clapped. I called him up and said, ‘You’ve a winner on hand’.
“Even with his earlier ‘Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham’ they came down on him like they do on my serials. I told him not to worry, K3G will rock. And it did. I feel in some ways we both are victims of an elitist attitude. He makes the biggest hits with the biggest stars. And yet, like my serials, Karan’s films somewhere get cheated in the critical evaluations.”
She added: “Karan, Sanjay Leela Bhansali and in a different way Sanjay Gupta are my favourite filmmakers. But Karan is the only filmmaker I chat up with and I attend his parties. I rarely attend parties. But I remember at this one party an actress was being very rude to me.
“I was getting progressively uncomfortable. I can never forget how Karam came up to me and just put his arms around me. I realized that evening how important it is to make guests feel comfortable at your parties. That evening Karan and I bonded for life.”
Ekta mentions the Sunita Menon bonding.
“She’s the only one who can advise me and Karan fearlessly. We both are vulnerable people who are easy to win and exploit. Sunita has been a source of strength.”
Ekta is also very fond of Karan’s mother. “Aunty’s inputs to my soaps are invaluable. Both Karan and his mom have always been very supportive.”

Abhishek Joins Aiswarya in Boston
The superstar couple seems to be much in love with each other. It has been just five months and the couple cannot live without each other. The Bachan couple has been spotted in Boston together, they are not even separable by their professional commitments. For the last few weeks Aish has been shooting in Boston for her movie ‘The Next Pink Panther’ while her better half was shooting in India. But Abhi made it point to meet his dear wife so he flew to Boston to meet her. The couple was spotted walking together hand-in-hand on the streets of Boston. Abhi also accompanied his wifey to the sets of the movie. Previously when the movie was being shot in Paris, even then he had joined Aish. These people seem to be inseparable.
Abhishek will soon resume work for his movie ‘Drona’ in Namibia and Aish will be busy with ‘Pink Panther’ till October. Aish plays the role of a criminal expert in the movie who helps the Inspector nab an elusive burglar. Back to Abhi missing his wife…………..hmmmmm did we ever think Abhi could be sooooooo Romantic?

Bipasha joins Ash's league too!
After Ash it is Biapsha Basu who is heading west now. We hear that the dusky beauty has bagged not one but two Hollywood films, both from reputed film studios at Los Angeles.
She caught the attention of many people throughout the world when she hosted the New Seven Wonders of the World event in Lisbon in July with Hollywood stars Hilary Swank and Ben Kingsley.
Confirming the news, Bipasha’s international manager, Simone Sheffield said, “Yes, Bipasha Basu is doing not one but two good films offered by prominent Hollywood Studios.
Besides the two ventures, she also has an offer on the table that she practically zeroed in on but the only thing that’s pending is the casting of the male lead of the film. The specifics will be announced only once the contracts are signed and not before!”
While Simone refuses to reveal anything about these projects, there is a rumour going around that Bipasha is being considered for a plum role in the future episodes of famous TV series ‘Lost’.
It is evident that Simone is greatly impressed by Basu's talent. In fact, she has already put up Bipasha’s official website on her official website describing her as India’s Sophia Loren.
Besides Bipasha, Simone’s other Bollywood clients include Aishwarya Bachchan, Ishaa Khoppikar, and Rekha.
Back home, Bip’s Dhana Dhan Goal is all set for release where she will star opposite beau John Abraham after a long hiatus, no doubt her fans are anxious to see the two on-screen together again. Bips also has Abbas-Mustan’s film Race later this year.
